About Maryann Evans

Where she lives: Oregon City, Oregon.

Animals she owns: Three dogs (Vinnie, Bug, & Molly), two horses (Cookie & Concho), two pygmy goats (because horses need companions, you know)

Inspiration: Communicator Beatrice Leidecker

Sweetest thing an animal has ever told her: A mare described her adult owner as “her boy”, because he got her when he was a youngster. The mare remembered when and where they met and how he would pet her. A horse with fond memories!

Most unusual animal she’s spoken with: I was just enjoying the Honolulu Zoo when one of the cow elephants caught my attention and told me about her likes and life at the zoo. Wow!

What about bad horses? I’ve ridden horses around the world and only met one truly nasty horse. I have met a lot of bad owners/trainers; plus, many bad matches.

Anything else you’d like people to know about you? It is still exciting to talk to each and every animal. The fact that I’ve finally let go of my “I couldn’t talk to an animal” attitude, and let them in to talk to me is the most wonderful feeling I’ve known—besides maybe a great gallop on the beach.
