Kerrits Summer: Our Top Picks!

The season for clinics, shows, and schooling shows is here. We tried (and loved!) these pieces from Kerrits that are a must-have for the spring and summer as you are gearing up and getting dressed for some fun in the sun.

Kim in the Collected Clinic Shirt and Crossover Breech

Kerrits Collected Clinic Shirt

Collected Clinic Shirt in sand/black

We feel pretty lucky to have the opportunity to try clothing from Kerrits, especially because it is Oregon born and bred, and even more so when we fall hard for the pieces that come in. The Kerrits Collected Clinic Shirt is one of those pieces. This lightweight summer shirt comes in three colors, (sunset/rosewood, sand/black, and juniper/indigo) with the contrasting darker color on the underside of a classic show collar. This makes it the perfect piece for hot summer days, because the jersey fabric is so breathable and light. My favorite aspect of this shirt is that is polished enough for a clinic or schooling show but can be unbuttoned for a more casual “polo shirt” look for hacks or lessons… or when you’re done in the show ring. The fabric has a technical feel, with mesh dots that make it light and easy. I wore this on a hot day and it was lighter and more breathable than most of my sunshirts. I forgot I had it on, even with the show collar up. The fit is roomy but tailored. The xs was a bit large in the chest and shoulders for me and I tried the juniper/indigo and just loved it.

Crossover II Kneepatch Breech

Crossover II Kneepatch Breech in White

I love me a good summer breech and these were designed with their namesake in mind. The “crossover” breech has a tailored fit with stretch-woven fabric so they hold their shape but offer some give as you ride. They are meant to be a good, everyday breech that can transition to the show ring and the colors available reflect this versatility: white, navy, tan, and black are all available and Kerrits hit the price point perfectly here. At $109, that is a killer deal for breeches that can do so much. I tried the navy, and it felt like an awesome option for a more casual look. The fit is mid-rise, hitting me below the belly button without being super low and the knee patches are soft and pliable. These do have stretch, but not as much as some of the Kerrits tights that are truly stretchy. It is more of an in-between (crossover!) breech in terms of fabric. For me, it was more structured than stretchy, but it did give well. This breech is perfect for a child or junior who is showing and growing out of sizes or for a buyer looking for a great show breech without breaking the bank. That tan will get you in and out of the show ring and your lessons all day long! 5 stars from this reviewer.

Top Pick! Kerrits Freestyle Knee Patch Pocket Tight

Kerrits Freestyle Knee Patch Pocket Tight in Walnut/Leopard

I loved these! Of the three items I had the opportunity to try, these were my absolute favorite. I think because they are a true summer tight, so they were extremely comfortable and are the perfect item for trips out to the barn, and a warm ride on a sunny day. The have a higher rise and are made of compression fabric so they stay light while holding everything in. I loved the feel and they added absolutely no bulk in my boots. One of my favorite things about the Kerrits tights are the thin, long, profile pockets on each side. You guys, it holds an iPhone perfectly. For me, this is a versatile, summer tight that you will feel confident going from the barn to the store or to meet a friend after your ride. Think: yoga tight meets breeches! It comes in 5 colors with a nice pop of bright or patterned color at the calf stretch. So super fun when you pull those boots off. This is my #1 must-have for summer from Kerrits. You will love it!
